Gamma World 2e came out in 1983, five years after its predecessor from TSR Hobbies.
Later, it was considered a post-apocalyptic RPG as the story behind how the strange new world came to be changed with each edition.
Added to the former creative team were Jeff Easley, Larry Elmore, and Keith Parkinson, all sharing the art credits.
The game expanded to include plant types for player characters.
The rules continued using the THAC0 system of charts and tables for combat.
The Gamma World 2e core book had a grand total of 64 pages for the rules. It also included The Adventure Book, which added 32 more pages.
They introduced three maps also — the United States, an area map of of the Allegheny, and the decimated city Pitz Burke.
